The PC/Mac version of Minecraft has now officially sold more than 13 million copies as of the 13th of this month. The game is for $26.95 per copy, but certain alpha and beta versions were for less, therefore calculating the precise lifetime revenue isn’t possible. They had sold over 12 million copies in the beginning of September and had sold around 11 million copies at the end of June. Writing on Twitter, creator Markus Persson said, “The original version of Minecraft has now passed 13 million copies sold. Official statement: whoa.” Minecraft is available too on other platforms. The Xbox 360 version has sold more than 8 million copies as of August, and the Pocket Edition sold around 10 million copies in May. Microsoft has described Minecraft is described as a “beas...

Despite being expectedly awful, the VGX awards did at least herald a new stampeded of gaming trailers and announcements. At the head of that pack was No Man’s Sky, which charged through the wilderness on the back of a procedurally generated spaceship. Telltale confidently filled out the herd with two new additions to their family: Game of Thrones and Tales from the Borderlands. But by far the prettiest beast on show was The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The prettiest, and the most on fire. Watch this brand new video showing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in action from the VGX Awards. Striking stuff. But a ship made from the claws of dead men? Er, guys, dead men don’t have claws. They have fingernails. Gross. Disgusting fingernail ships aside, The Witcher 3 is primed to be one of the most ex...

Word has gone around that the Xbox One is not backwards compatible and if you try to adjust the system settings to add the functionality, there is a good chance you could brick your console, says Microsoft’s Larry “Major Nelson”. “To be clear, there is no way to make your Xbox One backwards compatible,” he mentioned on Twitter. “Performing steps to attempt this could make your console inoperable.” There is a guide looming around these days that claims backwards compatibility on Xbox One can be unlocked with just a few button presses. The steps outlined in this guide are the same instructions for turning an Xbox One into a dev kit, which Microsoft also advised against earlier this week. Though at the moment backwards compatibility is not officially ...
PC hardware manufacturer Nvidia are of the opinion that the PC is “far superior” to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 as a gaming platform, and that small form-factor PCs should be a viable alternative or option to next-gen consoles. “We are proposing small form-factor PCs to be a viable alternative to the next-gen consoles. Enthusiast players want the ultimate games system and that is the PC,” said Matt Wright, Nvidia consumer sales manager. Wright went on to say “The PC platform is far superior to any console when it comes to gaming, plus you get all the extra functionality that a computer brings.” Small PC gaming boxes are a major aspect of ‘Valve’s SteamOS push’ to try and get PC hardware into the living room, with the first Steam Machines expected to ship in...
