Middle-Earth: Shadow of War will have premium currency and loot boxes

The innovative Nemesis System created unique personal stories through procedurally-generated enemies who remember every encounter and are differentiated by their personality, strengths and weaknesses. Middle-earth: Shadow of War expands this innovation with the introduction of followers who bring about entirely new stories of loyalty, betrayal and revenge. The Nemesis System is also expanded to create a unique personal world through Nemesis fortresses, which allows players to utilize different strategies to conquer dynamic strongholds and create personalized worlds with their unique Orc army. An important aspect of the Nemesis System now comes in forging, customizing and leading your own army of unique Orc followers against the fortresses of Mordor. There are different ways to do this, inc...

Patches! Gitch’yer Patches ‘ere! Arkham Knight, GTA V and Witcher 3

This week’s major updated games are: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Batman Arkham Knight. Batman Arkham Knight‘s PC version is still not fixed, and after delaying the Batgirl DLC, WB has announced that the latest patch for the game is coming on July 27th. No fixes have been detailed yet, but prepare for one massive patch notes section this time. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt got a patch this week, the Patch 1.07, and it adds quite a bit, but it also reportedly causes performance slowdowns in consoles. CDPR is already calling it the “Largest patch for the game yet”. The patch is 7.3 GBs on consoles and around 2.2 GBs on the PC. The PC version is just a prep patch and apparently doesn’t do much, with the proper patch arriving soon. You can find a (rather too complete f...

Rumor: WB Montreal Working on Superman Game

Rumor has it that Warner Bros. Games Montreal, the studio responsible for the open-world super hero game, Batman: Arkham Origins, released in 2013, is making a Superman video game through a supposedly leaked screenshot. The supposedly leaked screenshot from the Superman game shows off a menu which resembles a screen where the player could select the main character’s costume. It lists Superman’s abilities with the costume, as well as his vulnerabilities. The UI buttons are those of an Xbox 360 controller. This rumor follows last week’s news that WB Games Montreal is hiring to fill 15 positions for an open world action game, which is “a new IP project for next generation game platforms.” The game they are working on will have an online component and, most importantly, WB’s listing describes ...

Arkham Knight PC Fiasco: WB Apologises, Offers Refunds, Pulls Game from Sale

In a rather generous and consumer friendly turn of events, Rocksteady apologised for the much maligned sub-par PC port of Batman: Arkham Knight and recommended players t claim a refund from Steam. Green Man Gaming also started giving out refunds. At first, WB simply re-released the system requirements and asked fans to wait for the patch. The post can be found here. It advised players to: Bump down the resolution to 720p To turn all settings down to Low To disable Nvidia Gameworks features And to not tweak the .ini files to unlock the framerate and other options which were not in the in-game menu It also gave out some outlandish minimum system requirements for a game running at 720p and on Low. The Minimum card was a GTX 660 with 3GBs of VRAM, the Recommended card was a 770 (Again a 3GB va...

Arkham Knight PC A Bust: Fans Batmad

Batman Arkham Knight is not enjoying a good launch on the PC. In fact, the launch is so bad, it puts to mind the launches of Assassin’s Creed: Unity and Aliens: Colonial Marines. The game uses the notorious DRM Denuvo (on top of Steam) and appears to be horribly unoptimised, with people reporting that not even a 980Ti can maintain playable framerates on even High, with numerous issues with SLI and Crossfire support (Crossfire is disabled in AMD’s Game Ready Driver, and SLI actually reduces framerate with Nvidia). Reports of stuttering and audio glitches are also numerous. There also appears to be a memory leak in the game, which causes the application to bloat to about 15GBs on RAM before crashing. It’s also locked to 30FPS. And AMD cards are even worse off, as even the o...
