Evolution Studios: Makers Of DriveClub Shutdown
Evolution Studios, the studio behind World Rally Championship, MotorStorm and the recent Playstation 4 exclusive racing game, Driveclub, has shut down as confirmed by Sony. While the game was a bit of a mess at launch, the developers worked hard and turned it into one of the best racing titles on the PS4. They even added a DLC, which brought bikes to the game. Just a year ago, 55 people had been cut from Evolution and today Sony made a hard choice of closing down the Studio itself. Microsoft Opens Xbox One To Cross-Platform Play With PS4
With Microsoft announcing that Rocket League is getting cross-network play on Xbox One and PC, the tech firm wasn’t content to rest on its laurels. As it happens, on top of the reveal for Psyonix’s sports game being the first title to be available for the Xbox Live’s cross-platform functionality, Microsoft also made it known that the company’s current generation console will be providing native support for cross-platform play between Xbox One, Windows 10, and other “online multiplayer networks,” implying it would be possible for PlayStation 4 to join in as well. Of course, Microsoft didn’t directly call on any particular console like Sony’s or speak specifically to services such as Electronic Arts’ Origin to make the leap, but the Washington-based multinational has definitely made it clear...
No Man’s Sky Launching On June 21st
The much awaited No Man’s Sky is being released on 21st June for PC and PS4 as confirmed by Hello Games. Beyond that they have also announced that the PC version of No Man’s Sky will receive a collectible Explorer’s Edition limited to 10,000 copies. The Explorer’s Edition will include a code for a digital copy of the game as well a replica of the hand-painted 8-inch ship. Rise Of The Tomb Raider Coming To PC On Jan 28
Rise of the Tomb Raider will be releasing at the end of this month on PC as expected, with Square Enix confirming the game will be available for Windows 10 and Steam on January 28th. The game launched back in November for Xbox One, however due to a deal signed with Microsoft, Rise of the Tomb Raider launched exclusively on the Xbox One with PC and PS4 versions coming in 2016. Kojima Starts New Production Studio, Working PS4 Exclusive Title
Sony Computer Entertainment president Andrew House took to YouTube late Tuesday night to confirm that Hideo Koijma’s first independently produced game will be made as a “collaboration with PlayStation” to launch exclusively on Sony consoles. A Q&A posted on Medium (since taken down, but still available on Google Cache) confirmed that the new Kojima Productions is not a subsidiary of Sony, and that future Kojima Productions games (past the first) won’t necessarily be exclusive to PlayStation. Sony Unlocks More Power For The PS4
From launch day, the Xbox One has been carrying a performance deficit when compared to the PlayStation 4. Hardware choices made during the design stage by Microsoft meant a games console that can’t quite match Sony’s offering.
