Evolution Studios, the studio behind World Rally Championship, MotorStorm and the recent Playstation 4 exclusive racing game, Driveclub, has shut down as confirmed by Sony. While the game was a bit of a mess at launch, the developers worked hard and turned it into one of the best racing titles on the PS4. They even added a DLC, which brought bikes to the game. Just a year ago, 55 people had been cut from Evolution and today Sony made a hard choice of closing down the Studio itself. To be honest I haven’t played much of Driveclub, but Motorstorm was a memorable part of my life especially the apocalypse edition. Sony released a statement to gamesindustry.biz stating: “Regular reviews take place throughout SCE Worldwide Studios, ensuring that the resources that we have in such a c...
With Microsoft announcing that Rocket League is getting cross-network play on Xbox One and PC, the tech firm wasn’t content to rest on its laurels. As it happens, on top of the reveal for Psyonix’s sports game being the first title to be available for the Xbox Live’s cross-platform functionality, Microsoft also made it known that the company’s current generation console will be providing native support for cross-platform play between Xbox One, Windows 10, and other “online multiplayer networks,” implying it would be possible for PlayStation 4 to join in as well. Of course, Microsoft didn’t directly call on any particular console like Sony’s or speak specifically to services such as Electronic Arts’ Origin to make the leap, but the Washington-based multinational has definitely made it clear...

The study, by MyVoucherCodes, polled 2,747 partners of gamers in the UK, as part of research into the effect playing games has on relationships. After establishing which console was used by the respondents’ partners to play Video Games, the study asked, ‘How would you rate your partner in the bedroom?’ The results saw just 11 per cent respond ‘excellent’, while most – 27 per cent said their partner was ‘good’, 26 per cent said their partner was ‘average’ and a disappointing 20 per cent branded t...
There have been various rumors going around as to what Nintendo’s upcoming console Nintendo NX will be, and what it will be capable of delivering. Now, in a flurry of fresh new rumors, it’s being said that the mystery console may now be compatible with PCs, smartphones, and even competing consoles such as the Playstation 4. We do realise how improbable that sounds, but lets get on with the story first. It started when Wall Street Journal reporter Takashi Mochizuki drew attention to an analyst’s report claiming Nintendo even plans to allow the NX to work with the Sony PS4, in some capacity. Very interesting report by @gibbogame: Nintendo’s NX may work with smartphones, PCs and even rival consoles such as PlayStation4. — Takashi Mochizuki (@mochi_wsj) January 20, 2016 The u...

God Hand God hand is an action beat ’em up game where the player takes control of Gene, a martial artist who packs literally the power of god hand (or you could say punch) on a quest to defeat a group of demons known as the Four Devas to resurrect Angra for purposes of world domination. Sony Computer Entertainment president Andrew House took to YouTube late Tuesday night to confirm that Hideo Koijma’s first independently produced game will be made as a “collaboration with PlayStation” to launch exclusively on Sony consoles. A Q&A posted on Medium (since taken down, but still available on Google Cache) confirmed that the new Kojima Productions is not a subsidiary of Sony, and that future Kojima Productions games (past the first) won’t necessarily be exclusive to PlayStation. Kojima’s next game, which is being described as “something completely new,” will also come to the PC after its PS4 release. And for more news and reviews, keep checking back at Gaming Central.
From launch day, the Xbox One has been carrying a performance deficit when compared to the PlayStation 4. Hardware choices made during the design stage by Microsoft meant a games console that can’t quite match Sony’s offering. Much has been done in the last two years by Microsoft’s engineers to try and close the gap, but it looks as though Sony is about to unlock more performance and pull further ahead. Both the Xbox One and PS4 use an 8-core AMD processor, but initially two of those cores were reserved in either console for background operations and the operating system to function. In order to close the performance gap Microsoft unlocked more GPU bandwidth and the 7th core on the Xbox One late last year. While this did give developers more performance to use, it meant losing a few featur...
