Hideo Kojima’s upcoming game, Death Stranding, sure has created a ton of hype and lead to a fair amount of head scratching among gamers. It’s also becoming one of the most awaited games for many people, including me. Death Stranding is being developed exclusively for the Playstation 4, with excellent support from Sony powering Kojima Productions. One of the things that’s worrying though is that the game actually might not hit a release date anytime soon, so much so that it might possibly end up being a Playstation 5 game. The thing about Kojima is that he takes time with the games he makes, with development periods averaging 4-6 years. The studio has only been formed a year ago when Kojima was still out and about deciding the engine he wanted to make the game on. He final...
Avalanche Studios, the folks behind Just Cause 3 and Mad Max, recently put up a few new job postings with a couple of interesting tidbits which might be indicating that they are making games for the Playstation 5. 1.) The jobs say they’re for “next-generation experiences” and engines, and one mentions that the new game is in development is for “for both current and next gen platforms”. 2.) Both jobs are about adding multiplayer to the engine, so maybe we won’t need to have the community patch in multiplayer this time. It’s worth noting that this follows Hajime Tabata of Final Fantasy XV fame saying that their new IP is for next generation consoles. Here’s the official listing: TECHNICAL DIRECTOR- MULTIPLAYER Avalanche Studios is currently loo...
While the Playstation 4 keeps doing better and better over time, Sony does have a new console in mind for the future, and it won’t be a half-step upgrade like the Playstation 4 Pro. In an interview with Golem.de, President and CEO of Sony America, Shawn Layden talked about their plans for future Playstation consoles, and had this to say: The Pro is really only to offer advantages such as 4K resolutions and HMD for players who can and want to use that. Add to this a more stable image rate and larger hard disk space. But who has a standard PS4 has no real disadvantages. Each of our games will continue to run on the classic PS4 and possibly better on the Pro. When asked specifically about the Playstation 5, he said, “Yes. It will probably be some time.“, hinting at a 2019 re...
Yesterday PlayStation’s official Twitter handle has teased something new to be revealed soon which has had speculations going wild across the internet. The reveal itself seems to be hardware focused, specially considering that it does seem to be some big box under there. We’re getting geared up for the reveal of something new. pic.twitter.com/wIZkq5DzQE — PlayStation Europe (@PlayStationEU) August 21, 2017 Could this be a new Playstation console announcement? It might be a slim version of the PS4 Pro, or maybe a new Vita console – Sony might decide to give portable consoles another shot after Switch’s success. Or could it actually be the Playstation 5? It seem unlikely that Sony decides to bring out a new console so soon, but given how Xbox One X looks poised to deliver b...
Gamingbolt recently spoke to Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter, and asked him about the successor to the PS4. Pachter believes that the PS5 will be backward compatible with PS4 Pro (which also means that it will play base PS4 games) and it will probably release in 2019. He goes on to say: [interaction id=”595f3dd0f7ddd65e0bce07d9″] “I really like Shawn and I don’t think he is attempting to mislead anybody. The PlayStation 4 Pro is better [from a technical perspective] than the PS4, so I think that’s a half step towards the PlayStation 5. I think the PS5 will be another half step. So he is being honest when he said he is not doing a half step but the PlayStation 5…how much faster can it be? It will surely support 4K. Will it support 240 frames per second? Great. W...
First off, for those who don’t know already, the PlayStation Neo is the code name for the new iteration of the PS4. While new versions of a console during its cycle are no surprise, what’s different this time around is the fact that this iteration will come with a upgraded and more powerful hardware, unlike regular iterations which come with better cooling, efficient power management, and a slimmer re-design. An upgraded and more powerful hardware splits the user-base, giving the base version the short end of the stick, ie, the lower end of pixel resolution and visual fidelity. Be sure to watch our podcast where we dive even deeper into the merits and demerits of the Playstation NEO: This is the first time it is happening on consoles (Gameboy Color and 3DS be damned), and the p...
