With much of her country’s infrastructure destroyed, she survived by utilizing her natural gifts with hacking and computers. After was taken in by Mexico’s Los Muertos gang, she aided it in its self-styled revolution against the government. Los Muertos believed that the rebuilding of Mexico had primarily benefited the rich and the influential, leaving behind those who were most in need of assistance. Following her many conquests, was supremely confident in her skills, but she...

Indians take offence easily and tend to get defensive when their sentiments are hurt. The tricky part is that India is a diverse nation and what might offend some section of society might not offend another and vice versa. Most would remember the Coldplay’s Hymn for the Weekend video faced a lot of flak for cultural appropriation of Indian religion and culture. I agree that India was depicted in a rather dramatic manner but I thought people seemed to forget that it was just a music video, which everyone knows is a bit over the top. I know dismissing it by just calling it a music video is not doing the controversy justice as this is a mulit-faceted debate. However there is an insightful article on The Guardian that gets into the finer details of this matter. Moving back to the articl...

Lucioball is the latest mode in Blizzard’s highly successful, ever-in-controversy Overwatch, an online competitive shooter. It allows changes the title to a more Rocket League-style game, and is centered around the Brazillian rollerblading, parkour-ing character, Lucio, whose moveset seems to be fir for this mode. However, due to a glitch, it is possible for a player to enter the mode as another hero, which is not meant to happen. I mean, otherwise we’d all have Bastion as the goalkeeper. And Tracer would make a cool cheerleader, but I digress. At first, the bug seemed to occur at random, but some players have apparently figured out how to make it happen intentionally, which in turn has rendered Blizzard to issue a warning against the players who seem to be doing so. “Apologies...
Here we go again, someone is offended. This time, it is the Universal Society of Hinduism, whose President Rajan Zed is asking Blizzard to take down Symmetra’s new Devi skin from Overwatch, as it “trivializes Hinduism’s highly revered goddesses. Read his complete statement here. Rajan Zed said “that in a video game set-up, the player controlled the movements of Devi, while in reality the devotees put the destinies of themselves in the hands of their goddesses. Moreover, Devi and its movements depicted in Overwatch did not match with characterization of the goddesses in the scriptures.” Talk about shoving your religion down other people’s throats. Need we remind you that there is a game where you can actually play as different Gods? We’re talking ab...

Launching its beta in 2015, Overwatch looks a bit like Blizzard’s more sci-fi/fantasy-inspired take on Team Fortress 2 with two teams of six duking it out. Blizzard described the game’s premise with the following passage: “In a time of global crisis, an international task force of soldiers, scientists, adventurers, and oddities known as Overwatch had come together to restore peace to a war-torn world. After many years, the group’s influence waned, and it was eventually disbanded. Overwatch might be gone now . . . but the world still needs heroes.” Overwatch lets players play as a diverse cast of characters including an armoured gorilla, a spiky-haired teleporting British lass, a wall-climbing ninja, a cybernetic angel, a viking mechanic, a lithe grappling hook...
