The Top 7 Most Disappointing Announcements At E3 2017

We covered the top showings at E3 2017 and now we’re covering the disappointments from E3. This is all based on my personal opinion, which will differ from yours so please, don’t come at me with your pitchforks. Nintendo Metroid Prime 4 Nintendo had a pretty great conference, probably the best conference this year so choosing a disappointing announcement was kinda hard. This was extreme nitpicking but they announced Metroid Prime 4 with what was essentially a gif of the title of the game. It hyped everyone up for sure but then we have nothing else, no images or screenshots or alpha footage or anything. Sony Monsters of the Deep Okay, what? No seriously, why even announce this? A Final Fantasy Fishing game for the VR because apparently, people’s fantasy is to fish. Microso...

Sony blocking Cross-Play for Profit?

With recent announcements that Minecraft will allow cross-play between all the platforms and Rocket League for the Switch also announcing that it’ll feature cross-play, Sony has made a strange decision and have blocked cross-play on their platforms. The reasoning behind this decision is very weak and quite frankly, not a smart one but what do we “players” know. In an interview with Eurogamer, PlayStation global sales and marketing head Jim Ryan had this to say, “We’ve got to be mindful of our responsibility to our install base”, he says. “Minecraft – the demographic playing that, you know as well as I do, it’s all ages but it’s also very young. We have a contract with the people who go online with us, that we look after them and they are within the PlayStation...

Turns out it was not as powerful as the PS4 which led to a lot of criticism towards Microsoft and Xbox. Then came the PS4 Pro and people bashed Microsoft even more. Sony even upped their exclusives’ game in the meantime which led to the rise of PlayStation’s popularity which left people wondering if Microsoft would step up their game and if so then how? We heard rumours about Project Scorpio for a long time, every couple of months we would get new information but nothing substantial about it. Then they revealed that Scorpio would run games at 4k and people were skeptical but still intrigued by the idea of it. Now, we finally have it officially announced, with the specs and ga...

Microsoft might have some big plans for gaming on Windows 10. As cited by Ubergizmo, Twitter user @h0x0d found a new “gamemode.dll” in the latest developer build of Windows 10. This Dll apparently allows users to adjust CPU and GPU resources in order to allocated more power for running games instead of background applications. .@h0x0d 14997 has a new dll “gamemode.dll”, so it looks like Game Mode is a thing — WalkingCat (@h0x0d) 28 December 2016 Essentially, it allows your PC to act like a console, freeing up most of the processing power solely for gaming purposes.
