Metal Gear Solid V Microtransaction Details

Konami has released a 40 minute Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain gameplay video with developer commentary during E3 2015, and it starts by addressing the issue of microtransactions, a new addition to the series that’s been worrying fans. “While it is true that a few microtransactions option due exists, the entire game has been carefully balanced to be fair and enjoyable with or without using these options,” Konami said. “There’s no pay to win option. Rest assured that every single item, weapon, and mission in the game is available to all players without paying a single cent.” “However, due to the sheer scale of the game and the time required to explore it all, microtransactions were added as a completely optional feature for players who might n...

Konami Head Discusses Future Plans

What Are the Goals of Konami’s New Leader? On April 1, 2015, Hideki Hayakawa assumed the position of Representative Director and President of Konami Digital Entertainment. Mr. Hayakawa previously served as Executive Producer leading the mobile game Dragon Collection to major success. Since 2009, when social platforms operating in the domestic market made themselves open to external developers, social application providers (SAPs) dominated with popular casual games such as farming/store simulators. It was in that market environment that Dragon Collection found a new niche with its game design that combines the essential features of fantasy games and card battle games. The title has received a number of awards, including the “Special Award” in the Japan Game Awards 2011: Fu...

Review: Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes

Gameplay Let’s not ignore that Ground Zeroes is short but it packs the punch and if you are a perfectionist then it is close to 10+ hours of gameplay to say the least. An opening cutscene, which is almost exactly the same as the original announcement trailer, sets the scene. Chico and Paz – which you’ll remember from Peace Walker– are in a prison camp, and you’ve gone in to rescue them. This is Kojima, so the story is more intricate than that, but I won’t spoil it for you. All I will say is that it ties together all the trailers you’ve seen for Metal Gear Solid V, and it has me waiting for the full title. In a first for the series, Ground Zeroes is billed as open world, though in truth that’s a little generous. The entire prison camp map is open from the start, with the ability to approac...

Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes Out Now

Few days left before the release of Ground Zeroes, and there’s still a lot of misinformation floating about. After spending over eight hours with the game, seeing the majority of its content, I’m going to take this opportunity to debunk, and verify, some of the rumors about the latest Metal Gear game.   Rumor: Ground Zeroes is a glorified demo. Reality: Ground Zeroes is a game. Demos come in different forms. Typically, they’re slices cut from the main game that offer a glimpse at the setting and plot, while giving you a chance to explore the core mechanics that will drive the gameplay experience. Sometimes game demos break these rules; Bravely Default’s recent demo for the 3DS offered curious players distinct content that’s separate from the final ...
