In a year dominated by brilliant open-world games, Just Cause 3 still manages to make its mark in style. In a way, it’s the happy-go-lucky sibling of Metal Gear Solid 5, with both games following war-weary, bearded freedom fighters catching up with old friends, revisiting past glories and attempting to save the world just one last time. There’s no stealth, of course – Rico Rodriguez only has one volume setting, which is LOUD – and Just Cause 3 has no pretensions to art or cultural significance. It just wants to p.a.r.t.y. and cause a few big bangs along the way. This is GTA 5 without the clever script and social satire but with the destruction dial turned up to max. It’s the game Saints Row wishes it could be. It’s also the game that has more fun with physics than any game since Portal 2, ...

As open world games continue to evolve, it’s becoming increasingly clear that the genre has a permanent spot in the industry. There’s something about the open-ended, free-form nature of these types of games that drive players to want more. Whether it’s the unique playfulness of something like Minecraft or the epic crime saga of the Grand Theft Auto series, open-world games are big business, with GTA alone having sold over 150 million copies. With the new generation of consoles boasting greater processing power and the scope for far larger game maps, lets take a look at some of the biggest open world games coming soon. This clip is nothing short of an action movie trailer, no joke! Here is what the Just Cause’s YouTube page had to say about the trailer–“Wingsuit, Grapple Hook, Massive Explosions: The first Just Cause 3 Gameplay trailer takes you straight into the intense action. Watch Rico Rodriguez cause chaos to the regime of the ruthless dictator General Di Ravello, and stopping at nothing to liberate Medici, his home.” This footage is all actual gameplay. It was captured in-game using cinematic camera angles. It contains no cut scenes. Nothing was staged or scripted.

It is said that the game will feature a 400 square-mile map, split into three main areas.
