Unity 5 Game Engine Announced at GDC 2015

Unity Technologies announced at the Game Developers Conference, that its latest game engine, Unity 5, is now available globally. According Unity Technologies, the engine update contains “massive graphics improvements and an expanded editor feature set.” Graphically, the engine now has physically based shading, “real-time global illumination with Enlighten, and reflection probes.” The company also announced Unity Cloud Build, which will allow developers to increase their productivity by “leveraging the power of cloud computing.”   CEO John Riccitiello stated that the company wants everyone to be able to have access to Untiy 5″which is why we’ve increased the value of our royalty-free licenses.” The professional edition of Unity 5 features Unity...

NVIDIA Tease New GPU Titan X at GDC 2015

NVIDIA just announced the Titan X, its latest graphics card, at Epic Game’s GDC session this morning. And from the picture this thing looks like a monster. According to NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang, Titan X is now the world’s most powerful GPU with more than 8 billion transistors (a bit of a jump from the 7 billion in last year’s Titan Z). This card is runs on the company’s new Maxwell architecture, while packing 12 gigabytes of VRAM much like the Titan Z. “It’s the most advanced GPU the world has ever seen,” Jen-Hsun said, as he presented the company’s very first production unit.   NVIDIA didn’t really reveal too much else about thie new GPU yet. Sony’s PS4 VR Headset Unveiled at GDC 2015

Sony yesterday revealed a new version of their PS4 virtual reality headset, code-named Project Morpheus, and though it isn’t final neither is it ready to go out onto the market, Sony has boasted how much better this one is than the one they showed off last year. Sony said at the GDC presentation in San Francisco, that Morpheus will ship out in the first half of 2016. There is however no word on how much it will cost. The latest version of the virtual reality kit has an OLED display with 1920×1080 resolution. It will also offer frame rate options of 60fps and 120fps. The screen is 5.7 inches, with 360-degree tracking. You can also wear glasses with this version of Morpheus, which is designed in such a way that a single band goes around your head.
