Making a video game isn’t a one man job, well at least making a good one isn’t. Everybody from the director all the way down to game testers, play a crucial role in determining how good or bad the game will turn out. All these people work together toward a common goal, which is to make a game that leaves an impression on gamers across the world, achieving success in both critical acclaim and sales. However, there usually is one person who leads the development of a game or of the industry in general. Their vision is what pushes the rest to work toward a goal. It’s hard to come up with a brilliant idea, but it’s harder to convince others of the same. It takes a lot of courage and belief in an idea for one to rise above the rest and see that idea through till its completion. But it is becaus...
Global Postal Service is on the verge of bankruptcy and in a desperate attempt to save itself, have created living, self-delivering boxes. Unbox is a 90’s style platformer, where you play as a self delivering cardboard box called Newbie. Explore epic worlds filled with collectibles, cardboard characters and super secrets. Really one of the most unique games that I’ve come across in the recent past. Blyss, the second game by Dropout Games, released quite recently on the Apple App Store. It instantly landed itself a handful of excellent reviews and ratings from AppAdvice (4.5/5) and Pocket Gamer (8/10). MacStories went ahead and called Blyss, “One of the best puzzle games I’ve ever played” and TouchArcade states that, “Blyss appears to achieve that sweet spot of being complex and in depth, while still having a zen-like vibe.” While Blyss was achieving all this praise in its first month, we got in touch with Ankush Madad, Co-Founder of Dropout Games, and asked him about how he feels about their game, and the fact that they got featured as the Apple App Store’s “iOS Editor’s Choice.” Gaming Central: Congratulations on the release of y...
Did you know that a lot of the animation for movies like Life of Pi, Avatar, Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe were all done in India? I read somewhere that each hair on Aslan’s mane was individually controlled to give the best visual appeal. Next time while waiting for the extra scene in an X-men or Deadpool movie, just pay a little more attention to the names mentioned in the credits. You’ll end up reading more Indian names than you thought existed! Even though we posses the skills, India is still to come up with a hit game. But independent developers take on smaller ventures such as mobile games and apps and I have to say are pretty damn good at it. And since we’re in the patriotic mood, here is a list of the best mobile games that are made right h...
