Top 10 Video Games That Critics Were Wrong About

While, for the most part, video game critics voice an opinion that is resonant with that of the general audience, there is sometimes a stark divide between what they feel about the game and how an average gamer feels about the game. This could come from various factors such as time constraints, the reviewer’s personal preference and bias, or it could even be a case of the game not being of interest to the reviewer. When a game turns out to be a success in spite of initial tepid reception by critics, it’s obvious that they missed something that makes the game shine despite its flaws. So here are the top 10 video games that critics were wrong about. Evolution Studios: Makers Of DriveClub Shutdown

Evolution Studios, the studio behind World Rally Championship, MotorStorm and the recent Playstation 4 exclusive racing game, Driveclub, has shut down as confirmed by Sony. While the game was a bit of a mess at launch, the developers worked hard and turned it into one of the best racing titles on the PS4. They even added a DLC, which brought bikes to the game. Just a year ago, 55 people had been cut from Evolution and today Sony made a hard choice of closing down the Studio itself. To be honest I haven’t played much of Driveclub, but Motorstorm was a memorable part of my life especially the apocalypse edition. Sony released a statement to gamesindustry.biz stating: “Regular reviews take place throughout SCE Worldwide Studios, ensuring that the resources that we have in such a c...

Nissan Mistakes Driveclub’s Graphics for Real Life

Though Sony’s PlayStation 4 racing game Driveclub sputtered at the starting line upon release last year, one thing was never in question: the game’s gorgeous graphics. Now, a representative for one major car brand–Nissan, whose cars are featured in the game–has mistaken the racer’s visuals for real life. A Twitter user named Chris shared some in-game Nissan car images from Driveclub recently with the Nissan USA account, using the caption “Innovation that excites.” This, of course, is Nissan’s slogan. The person running the Nissan Twitter account replied, “Awesome shots! Did you take these photos?” It didn’t take long before other users pointed out the mistake. Check out the screengrabs below to see how it all went down. Ther...

DriveClub Beta For PS4

Sony has selected a few users to participate in a closed beta for DriveClub, according to new screenshots from the alleged test put up on NeoGAF. The beta appeared to be codenamed as ‘Cupcake’, with a few PS4 players being invited to test the racer ahead of its release. One screenshot also seems to show a track of the game that was not previously not seen.   It still remains unclear as to how these users received these beta codes, although it probably has something to do with Sony’s Beta Test Program, an initiative that lets select players help beta test games before they release. Sony still has to announce whether or not the game will have a public beta before its launch on the 10th of October.
