Super Mario Comes Running To iOS

Super Mario Comes Running To iOS

Nintendo fans, rejoice! With the unveiling of the iPhone 7 last night comes a beloved character from our childhood. As Nintendo continues to dive deeper into the world of mobile gaming, bringing along Super Mario for the ride.

During the launch event of iPhone 7, Shigeru Miyamoto took over the stage to debut the first ever Mario game to come to the smartphone, Super Mario Run. The will be available exclusively for the iOS for now.

The game features three modes, the aim being to run, jump and navigate through traditional Mario levels in order to collect as many coins as you can in a given amount of time. There are six levels spanning over multiple levels.

In addition to the conventional single player mode, there will be a “Toad Rally” in which you can compete against your friends to see who can collect more coins.

The third mode, called “Create Your Own Mushroom Kingdom” seems a little similar to Super Mario Maker, allowing you to create your own worlds using the coins you’ve collected.  However, we don’t know yet whether you can create entire levels or not.

Android fans need not be disappointed, though, because the game will also make its way to the Google Play Store. Nintendo says that the game will be released for Android at some point in the future. However, no exact date has been provided yet.

What does this mean for Nintendo? Is it going to enter the mobile market completely while developing its own platform? Or will this be limited to specific titles to boost Nintendo’s popularity as it focuses on bigger projects?
