Game of Thrones and The Lord of the Rings star Sean Bean is the voice of the tech trees for Sid Meier’s Civ 6, as confirmed by PC Gamer. After voicing the game’s E3 launch trailer, he is back as the voice behind the historical quotes that play after each time you complete a research on a new technology.
After Star Trek star Leonard Nemoy lent his voice to the tech trees of Civ IV, followed by Morgan Sheppard whose voice was featured in Civ 5, Bean is the third big name to be associated with the Civilization series. Before this, Sean Bean has done some voice acting as the narrator for the horror title Kholat. He also voiced Emperor Martin Septim in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
One thing that Sean Bean is known for is dying in movies and TV shows (for eg. Game of Thrones, The Lord of the Rings, Equilibrium and probably every second movie he stars in). But, as the ever-present-but-never-seen narrator, it might be too hard to kill him, which gives us some joy. But on a serious note, Bean’s voice will get to make a lot of appearances in the upcoming RTS game, as the tech trees in Civ 6 are based on cultures along with science, meaning the quote will be read both when you complete a civic or a tech.
Civilization 6 will be available for purchase starting 21st October, 2016.
