The month of August had been quite a hectic one for all of us here at Gaming Central. From quite literally the start of the month we had events after events. But it was all worth it at the end when we got to meet our community members, who we interact with over our Facebook live-streams. Here is what went down at GC this month.
Radeon RX 480 Launch
Jasmeet was pulling off all-nighters to get stuff working. Pretty sure he’s sleeping in this picture.
We hosted AMD’s RX 480 official launch here in India. We put up various systems to on display at the event for everyone to actually try VR on the 480. What most people missed out on was the manual labor that went on behind the scenes. Needless to say we didn’t have a lot of space in the office that week. We kinda just sat around wherever we found place. Our office looked like a Minecraft arena with the amount of cardboard boxes we had lying around.
We had the AMD Channel Sales Director ASEAN and India, Ryan Sim all the way from Singapore to officiate the event. It was really quite a fun event, everyone had a good time there. Expecially this one kid who actually left that event with a RX 480, yes you read that right.
Here’s a quick roundup of what happened at the event in case you weren’t able to make it.
Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Launch
Nikhill and Shrey bunked office one day and headed on over to the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 launch at Taj Palace. Nikhill got to share his extensive knowledge on the new phone and “stuff.”
Let Nikhill dazzle you with his knowledge on technology and phones.
Gameloft Asphalt 8 Event
The Gaming Central team also hosted Asphalt 8 ka birthday party at the Royal Plaza Hotel in CP. We had gamers, bloggers and YouTubers and media personnel from all over Delhi to witness the cake cutting.
Gameloft had also released a new Rio map for their game. So we had everybody racing each other on LAN at the event to win goodies. We also saw some really cool speed painting by some of our friends.
Here’s a roundup video of the event in case you missed it.
YouTube Happy Hour
So YouTube had an interesting event called YouTube Happy Hour in CP. So we all headed out to 38 Barracks and met up with fellow YouTubers as well as just have a good time.
The crew pretty much danced through the night. And no, no one got sloshed, pakka!
Zowies Extremesland LAN Finals
Sachith and Shrey paid a visit to the southern part of the country and attended the Zowies Extremesland LAN Finals. Also Sachith posed with a bike…scooter…or whatever the heck that thing is.
Gamer Rebellion Begins with a Game Jam
As many of you might know, we are starting an exciting campaign known as Gamer Rebellion. We are basically going to head out to colleges across Delhi and showcase the power of the RX 480 on various systems including a VR setup. We are trying to make this technology accessible to students who might otherwise never get the same to do so.
So we started it over at the Indie Game Jam at Founders Cafe two weeks ago. Game developers from around Delhi were called together to come up with a prototype of a game based on the theme given by the organizers within 24 hours. Devs had access to food and unlimited coffee. Also we had a Thermaltake P5 powered by a 480 with No Man’s Sky and a PS4 for everyone to take a break on.
We are headed to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University on the 8th of September 2016. If you want to join us, you can register on this link — https://goo.gl/forms/JzDYj13h8XwQTGfB3
