Osama Bin Laden Was An Anime Fan, And Played Pirated Video Games?

Anime fan and gamer are not the first things that come to mind when you think of Osama Bin Laden. Well, as it turns out, he might have been a lot more like us than we thought. The CIA released to the public nearly 470,000 additional files recovered in the May 2011 raid on Usama Bin Ladin’s compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. CIA Director Mike Pompeo authorized the release in the interest of transparency and to enhance public understanding of al-Qa‘ida and its former leader.

Folks have been pouring through those files and have discovered some interesting tidbits about Osama Bin Laden. Among the files were various documentaries about himself, nature, and a ton of anime. There were video files of Naruto, Bleach, and many others, including final Fantasy. He also seemed to be into video games judging by the Nintendo DS emulators on his system, including games like Super Mario Brothers, Animal Crossing & Devil May Cry. Movies like Antz and Resident Evil also were found among his collection.

As one would imagine, being a known terrorist, Osama Bin Laden was not walking down to the local video games store to buy these games or movies. He was torrenting them. But hey, what’s a little piracy in comparison to mass murder. Now it just might be that his computer was being used by others in his vicinity, including maybe his children. However, it’s unlikely that he would have his children with him while on the run and in hiding.

Anyways for what it’s worth, Osama recommends Kaspersky for protecting your computer from viruses, because that’s what he used. A pirated copy, obviously.
