World’s Biggest Video Game Forum Shuts Down After Sexual Assault Allegations Against Owner

NeoGAF, one of the biggest gaming forums has been offline for more than a day, and the reasons behind it are harrowing to say the least.

The problems began on 22nd October, when NeoGAF owner Tyler Malka (better known by his handle Evilore) was accused of sexual assault. Earlier, on Saturday, a post on the forum also called out Evilore for horrible behaviour towards women.

Later in the evening, the forum was filled with posts discussing the allegations, where some offered light on the situation, some condemned Evilore’s actions and some filled the page with memes. Since about midnight on the same day, NeoGAF has been offline.

Started in 2006, NeoGAF was the re-launch of the Gaming-Age Forums, and has become the largest platform for any discussion related to video games. Gamers, devs and journalists visit the forum alike to explain and discuss upcoming and past projects, while some users act as industry insiders, providing information and news. Many of its moderators have quit as well, with a lot of users leaving “suicide posts” in order to get banned.

According to USGamer, NeoGAF owner is still preparing a statement, but as of now the site is down, and there’s no information regarding when it will be up again (or whether it’ll be back at all).
