Thanks to the efforts of the modding team OpenIV, Grand Theft Auto IV’s map Liberty City will be right across Grand Theft Auto V’s Los Santos soon.
The group says that it has been working on it since the release of GTA V in 2015, clarifying that Liberty City will in no way replace Los Santos. It will be just across the ocean, in peaceful co-existence.
“Liberty City is finally coming into GTA V in all its glory,” OpenIV said in a blog post. “Liberty City will not replace Los Santos or Blaine County, but appears across the sea.”
To avoid any potential legal issues, the mod will not place Liberty City in GTA V. In order to obtain it, you need to own both the games on PC. Using a downloadable tool, you can then extract Liberty City from GTA IV, creating a custom DLC pack which can be patched into GTA V. The group is yet to announce a release date for the upcoming mod.
