In an interview with Argentinian radio station, The Last of Us music composer Gustavo Santaolalla may have provided some hints on when we can expect the upcoming The Last of Us Part II to release.
As the original interview is in Spanish, a YouTube channel by the name of RobinGaming picked it up and made a small video, which you can watch below:
Now, as the video states, Santaolalla says that the game is supposed to be completed in 2019. This could mean that it could potentially be released in the same year. However, we’d take this with a grain of salt as neither Sony nor Naughty Dog has said anything regarding a release date, and this is based on what Santaolalla knows about the progress on the project. However, he did say that titles like these need at least two years of work, and he’s been working on it since one year. Development of the game began sometime in 2014, but the game was officially confirmed last year at PSX. In any case, it’s possible that we may get to see a mid or late 2019 or an early 2020 release.
