SNK Playmore revealed a new entry in its 21-year-old fighting game franchise The King of Fighters at Sony’s pre-Tokyo Game Show press conference today. The King of Fighters 14 is bound for PlayStation 4 sometime in 2016.
The game is being created with “brand new high-quality 3D visuals,” but stays true to its 2D gameplay roots, SNK Playmore said. The previous entry, The King of Fighters 13, was released for arcades in 2010 and hit PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 the following year. An update to that game, The King of Fighters 13: Climax, hit arcades in 2012.
