What Happens To Your Games If You Die

We all have migrated from owning discs of games to owning digital copies in our digital libraries. It could be Steam, Origins, Uplay, PlayStation Network or Xbox Live. Some of us might have an account that’s not worth much but there are also people who’ve spent more than a thousand dollars in just games. So what happens in the unfortunate event that you die? Ever wondered what happens to your digital library? Well, a user on the Steam Community asked if they passed away and pass on their steam account in their will, would it be done. Well, there’s an answer to that and the answer is yes. If you do state it in your will, Steam will not block the change of ownership. Here’s the statement from one of the steam moderators:

Well, that’s good news for Steam users but what about Xbox and Sony? Well, Microsoft has a “Next Of Kin” process that is super lengthy and all and does give you access to their email accounts through which then you can access the Xbox Live account

There are no real concrete rules for Uplay, PlayStation Network or Origins and very vague ones for Steam and Microsoft. I feel like this should be addressed by them because digital libraries are growing every day and passing away without the ability to give their library of games to someone close does sound bad. Before we could just physically give someone the game copies but now, that’s not possible.
