It’s the last month of the first quarter of 2016, and the big games are starting to roll out. Some already have, but here’s what you can look forward to in March 2016.
Far Cry Primal
Platform: PC | Release Date: 1 March 2016
Far Cry Primal is an action-adventure video game developed and published by Ubisoft. It was released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on February 23, 2016, and is now released for Microsoft Windows on March 1, 2016. The game is set in the Stone Age, and revolves around the story of Takkar, who starts off as an unarmed hunter and rises to become the leader of a tribe.
Black Desert Online
Platform: PC | Release Date: 3 March 2016
Black Desert is an upcoming sandbox-oriented massively multiplayer online role-playing game by Korean video game developer Pearl Abyss. The game has been in development since 2010, and entered closed beta testing (CBT) in October 2013. The game uses Pearl Abyss’ own “Black Desert” engine specifically created to handle the fast rendering required for its seamless world and large-scale castle sieges.
Black Desert will be released using “free-to-play” model in Korea, Japan and Russia, although no further details of the business model or revenue generation have been announced, while in Europe and North America the game will use “buy-to-play” model.
The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is an action-adventure game developed and published by Nintendo for the GameCube and Wii home video game consoles. It is the thirteenth installment in the The Legend of Zelda series. Originally planned for release on the GameCube in November 2005, Twilight Princess was delayed by Nintendo to allow its developers to refine the game, add more content, and port it to the Wii.
The Wii version was released alongside the console in North America in November 2006, and in Japan, Europe, and Australia the following month. The GameCube version was released worldwide in December 2006. A high-definition remaster for the Wii U, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, will be released on March 4, 2016.
The story focuses on series protagonist Link, who tries to prevent Hyrule from being engulfed by a corrupted parallel dimension known as the Twilight Realm. To do so, he takes the form of both a Hylian and a wolf, and is assisted by a mysterious creature named Midna. The game takes place hundreds of years after Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask, in an alternate timeline from The Wind Waker.
Tom Clancy’s The Division
Platform: PC, PS4, Xbox One | Release Date: 8 March 2016
Tom Clancy’s The Division is an upcoming online open world third-person shooter role-playing video game. The game was developed and published by Ubisoft, with assistance from Red Storm Entertainment, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The Division takes place in mid-crisis Manhattan, an open world with destructive environments that are free for players to explore. The player’s mission is to restore order by investigating the source of a virus.
Hitman
Platform: PC, PS4, Xbox One | Release Date: 11 March 2016
Hitman is an action-adventure stealth video game that is currently under development by IO Interactive and will be published by Square Enix for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on 11 March 2016 in an episodic release format. It will be the sixth entry in the Hitman video game series.
The level-design of the game features a structure similar to that of Hitman: Blood Money, as opposed to the linear structure of Hitman: Absolution. Every level in the game is a small sandbox which can be explored by players. Levels are also larger in Hitman, in which the maps in the game will be “six to seven times larger than the biggest levels in Absolution”.
Need For Speed
Platform: PC | Release Date: 15 March 2016
Need for Speed is an online racing video game set in an open world environment, developed by Ghost Games and published by Electronic Arts, released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in November 2015, and to be released for Microsoft Windows in 2016. It is the twenty-second installment in the long-running Need for Speed series, and was a full reboot of the franchise.
It marks the series’ second eighth generation installment, and was the first Need for Speed title to only be on eighth generation hardware. It marks the franchise’s first return to the import scene and tuner culture focus since the release of 2010’s Need for Speed: World.
Republique
Platform: PS4 | Release Date: 22 March 2016
République is an episodic action-adventure stealth video game developed by Camouflaj and Logan Games and published by GungHo Online Entertainment. The game was originally announced for iOS devices but has since expanded to Android, Microsoft Windows and OS X. A PlayStation 4 version, containing all five episodes, has been announced for 22 March 2016.
A Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign was completed successfully on May 11, 2012, raising over $555,000 from over 11,000 backers.
