Game Hack Goes To Pune

Hey Guys,

I just got back from our trip to Pune where I, along with Shrey attended Game Hack. It really is an interesting initiative taken on by Reliance Games to promote and encourage indie game developers across the country. Events like this give great exposure to indie developers who are trying to find their way in the industry.

All developers took part in the “Indie Game of The Day” where in they all showcased their games to a few judges and the winner took home Rs. 10,000 and the runner up got Rs. 5,000. Games Anax won the Indie Game of The Day, while Winjit Games took the second spot. Presentations were made by companies like Intel and Cliques. There was also a panel discussion which dealt with issues budding mobile game developers were facing. On the panel were reputed names like Matt Powers, Sundeep Shetty, Patrice Crespy and Anuj Tandon who gave developers their insights based on their experience.

I believe this was a good opportunity for developers to interact with each other and to see what they are up against in the mobile gaming industry as we all know is quite ruthless. I had a great time interacting with developers and getting to see how they come up with ideas for their games. The competition is so much tighter than I imagined, the level of talent that these developers brought forth was impeccable. It was a joy to see people from all ages taking part in the event, and also to see a few female members in some of the teams.

Game Hack is going to happen in other cities like Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi and Bombay so if you are a game developer then block your dates and make sure you attend one of these events.
