Five Tips For a Perfect Start In No Man’s Sky

After years of waiting, speculations, hype, and even some leaks of late, No Man’s Sky has finally reached our homes, our hands, and our gaming systems. However, given the scale of the game, and the fact that you will be exploring massive star systems, with billions of planets, a little direction as to where to head to and what to keep in mind will go a long way in making the most out of your time in No Man’s Sky.

So here are a few things that you should be doing first when you set out exploring the universe:

1. Explore Your Starting Planet

Every player will spawn on a random planet. Conditions may be harsh or simple, its purely procedural. To make the most of your starting location, explore as much as you can. Do not be in a hurry to rush of into space. There will be ample time for that later. Explore the planet, and collect as many resources as you can, it’ll all come in handy in the ling run, as the game focuses heavily on crafting, and resource management.

2. Upgrade Your Gear

Crafting requires resources, and to find resources, you’ll need to scan, and that’s where your scanner comes in handy. So be sure to upgrade your scanner, in order to increase the scanning range, which in turn allows you scan further, and more resources and other useful elements in the environment, including relays that guide you to Colony Bases, etc. So be on the lookout for blueprints that help upgrade your equipment.

3. Be Careful Not To Harvest A Planet Too Much For Resources

The more resources you gather, the more you screw with the ecosystem, the more you gain the attention of a mysterious ‘robot’ protector that is meant to keep the balance in the universe and prevent destruction of ecosystems. The longer you harvest a planet, the tougher the robot guards they send at you – there are bipedal ones and ones that walk on four legs, but there’s a multitude of different types.

4. Find Atlas Pass

Many of the useful resources, elements, Warp Cells (allows you to make interstellar-jumps), etc might often be locked away in boxes or storage rooms. To unlock these you will need Atlas Pass Blueprints, which can be found on Atlas Station. Not all planets you warp to will have Atlas stations, so be sure to scour them end to end when you come across one. They also provide you with language training, which will be required to interact with the numerous species you might encounter on your journey.

5. Get A Powerful Spaceship

While you might start of with a clunky wreck of a spaceship, you’ll need to be on the lookout for a better ship, or upgrade yours in order to travel faster, and survive space battles. You can alternatively be on the lookout for crashed ships which can be repaired, and outfitted with an extended hyperdrive.

Just make sure to that learn your way around the basics, including the crafting, hacking, exploration, combat, and a lot more which is core to the game. This game just might the kind that will have you hooked for hours and hours on end.
