Console Exclusivity no longer seems to include PCs nowadays. While this might feel shady, and let’s face it, the games are exclusive to a console only because Microsoft or Sony ‘motivated’ the developers, so it’s not exactly gold standard practices, this means that PC gamers now get the windfall in terms of exclusive content. Let’s have a look at the upcoming no-longer-exclusives, shall we?
Street Fighter V
One of the world’s most played fighting games, Street Fighter V will not be coming to Xbox One. Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono confirmed that the PS4 will be the only console that will have SFV, with emphasis on console, as it also comes to PC. And since Microsoft announced that Killer Instinct is also being ported over to PC, it kinda makes PC the most definitive fighting game platform.
Shenmue III
The Prodigal son returns to gaming after 14 years of limbo. And unlike last time (Shenmue II was on the original Xbox and the Sega Dreamcast) this time, it’s coming on the Playstation only. Besides the PC, that is. If you look closely at the tiers in the Kickstarter, you will see that most of the rewards are on the PC.
Cuphead: Don’t Deal With The Devil
Cuphead Won E3, according to me.It’s the only game I will buy on day one (Sorry DOOM), and is one of the most stylish offerings at E3. Seriously, just watch the trailer and tell me if you can tell the gameplay from any 1930s cartoon. The original jazz orchestral score are the icing on top of the cake.
No Man’s Sky
Sony’s fully procedural space-sim darling No Man’s Sky, showcased extensively at the last two E3s, is coming to PC straight up. The release date is the same, and the PC version will have HOTAS support too, making it just all round superior
Gears of War Ultimate
Gears of War’s remaster is coming to PC too, as the original game was on PC, just like Fable 1. Don’t expect the sequels to appear on the PC anytime soon though. The port has all the PC exclusive bells and whistles like 4K and High refresh rate support, support for Mouse and Keyboard and more.
Killer Instinct
And in the Xbox One No-Longer-exclusive news, joining the likes of Dead Rising 3 and Ryse: Son of Rome is the Xbox One launch title Killer Instinct. The free-to-play game’s PC port will feature crossplay with Xbox One, and Phil Spencer hinted it might still be free to play. Of course, it’s exclusive only to Windows 10.
Let’s face it, this giving away of exclusives to PC is only giving PC players their enemies’ skulls to drink wine out of while sitting on their throne of 4K resolutions and 144Hz monitors. At any rate, what this conforms is that now is the time to play on PC, recent horrid ports notwithstanding.
