Anyone hoping to get their hands on the recently released hit game Cuphead for the PS4? Well, you’re going to be disappointed by this news. The difficult, gorgeous looking platformer is going to stay exclusive to the Xbox and PC.
The devs had confirmed this sometime ago, on NeoGAF:
“Yes, this Cuphead game is exclusive to Xbox and PC (with Steam and Win10 versions at launch and a GOG release likely shortly after). There will likely be a Mac version down the road and possibly a Linux version beyond that (unless we lose our houses or whatever).
“We own the Cuphead IP.” Note that Teeth is none other than Tyler Moldenhauer, digital painter and QA at StudioMDHR.
Additionally, in a recent interview with GameSpot, Xbox Head Phil Spencer said that the version of Cuphead that exists today might have never come been if it weren’t for Microsoft’s investment in the project. “The team had certain ambition about what they wanted to go do. And together with them we wanted to invest more,” he said. “We saw more opportunity. And what that turned into was us having an exclusive game on our platform. That’s a game that probably wouldn’t have happened the way it did if we didn’t invest the way we did.”
