Retro Kicks! Legendary Eleven gives a new face to arcade style home console football gaming. It’s an alternative to the more realistic football games. With a full roster of 36 national teams spread across 5 different cups the game holds a promise for many an hour of gaming and replay value, but does it hold up? Football being my favorite sport I am always interested in picking up a new football game and giving it a go alone or together with a friend or family member. Seeing the announcement of Legendary Eleven got me exciting and I couldn’t wait to get into it, digging in deep into the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s with their characteristic styles and vibes. Loading the game brings up the main menu with a great looking retro style background. With only two game modes there is not much to choose from...
Vampyr is a game where you play as Dr. Jonathan Reed who is back from war and a recently turned Vampire. After making a couple of horrible choices after becoming a Vampire, Jonathan decides to use his powers to help people and in general stop London from turning into a disease-ridden hell hole. The story has branching elements and it is really damn good. Visually, it nails it. With great atmosphere and lighting bundled with the weather system it really sets the tone and mood which is dark and gritty and somewhat scary. It does a fantastic job recreating London during WW1 and the Spanish Flu that plagues the city. Besides overall visuals the player and NPC animation in combat is good and at times excellent. It uses particle effects system really well on shadows while dodging and on the fire...
Quantic Dream have been making and improving upon the same kind of games for over 10 years now. Heavy Rain put them on the forefront, with a game that looked fantastic, told an interesting story, and generated a fair amount of controversy. Regardless of how you might feel about Heavy Rain, it was an important game in terms of getting people’s attention, and making both Quantic Dream and David Cage a name that Playstation gamers know about. Their next game, Beyond: Two Souls, failed to reach the same levels of acclaim, however their latest game, Detroit: Become Human, is definitely worth paying attention to and spending time with. It’s 2030s in Detroit and humans have created highly advanced androids to serve out every need. They are construction workers, caretakers, housemaids,...

Horror games are something that I usually steer clear of and are really not my forte. Mainly because most horror games use a lot of jumpscares which is something that I’m not a big fan of, especially since they’re overused and it ends up feeling liking a very cheap way to scare someone. In comes Detention, a 2D horror game with a unique art style that doesn’t jumpscare you to death.
