Assassin’s Creed games will support Xbox 360 for now

“Assassin’s Creed: Unity will be another major entry in the franchise’s history,” said Ubi CEO Yves Guillemot in an investor call last night. “The game will showcase the city of Paris with amazing next-gen graphics and will incorporate great new innovations that will be revealed at E3. “The title will be released this fall on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. We have not disclosed our plan yet for the Xbox 360 and PS3 SKUs, however we have made it clear as a company that we will expect to continue supporting both consoles for the foreseeable future.” A secret, undisclosed plan, huh? Warface exits beta on Xbox 360 yesterday

The Xbox 360 version of the free to play multiplayer shooter from Crytek Kiev, Warface is now out of beta and is available to all Xbox Live Gold members announced Microsoft’s Larry Hryb announced today. Crytek launched Warface sometime in February in closed beta on Xbox 360. And opened up the beta in late March. Players of the open beta won’t need to re-download Warface; they’ll just have to update to the full version the next time they launch it. Ubisoft and Carbon games bring Airmech Arena to Xbox Live

Ubisoft announced a partnership with Carbon Games to bring AirMech Arena to Xbox Live online entertainment network from Microsoft. The fast-paced, free-to-play game will be available for download on Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft this summer.   “As an indie developer, AirMech has been our passion for the past several years, and we are thrilled to partner with Ubisoft to bring the game to console,” said James Green of Carbon Games. “AirMech Arena was created from the ground up to be the ultimate RTS experience with a gamepad. Microsoft Studios acquires rights to Gears of War franchise

Microsoft already has the rights to the Halo series, and now it’s adding another blockbuster to its stable of franchises: Gears of War. The company announced today that it has acquired the rights for the series from developer Epic Games. While no new Gears of War games were announced, development for the series will be handled by Microsoft Studios’ Vancouver-based subsidiary Black Tusk Studios. Former series producer Rod Fergusson will be joining Black Tusk to “play a key studio leadership role” on the franchise. Microsoft start New Year with a bang giving two free games for Xbox Live Gold members

Microsoft is starting this new year’s off with a bash as they are giving two free games for Xbox Live Gold members via the Games with Gold program. From the 1st of January till the 15th, the kung fu-heavy crime game, Sleeping Dogs is going to be available for these select few. And for the second half of the month, which is from the 15th to the 30th of January, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light will be free for those members. Source: Xbox.com

Gears of War to make a comeback?

Microsoft executive Phil Spencer has spoken about the future of the Gears of War series, saying that the series would need to “expand what it was” in order to continue onto the Xbox One. “I want to find a great Gears game,” said Spencer on IGN’s Podcast Unlocked It has been the first active discussion of the future of the Gears of War series since Gears of War: Judgmentlaunched earlier in the year, which did not accomplish the same critical and sales success of former games in the series. “I thought we did a good job with Judgment,” said Spencer, “but I don’t think it hit the level of quality we saw in the previous games. 80 Million Xbox 360 Sold and Counting

Microsoft revealed yesterday that  Xbox 360 has “reached 80 million consoles sold to retailers worldwide” according to its internal data. “Sold to retailers” doesn’t necessarily mean all of these consoles have yet to trickle out to customers, though retailers wouldn’t buy consoles unless there was consumer demand. Microsoft also mentioned that although it was beaten by PlayStation 3 in monthly sales last month, it holds the title of the top-selling console in the US in 2013. 1.6 million Xbox 360 consoles have been sold in the US this year. On the back of strong Grand Theft Auto V sales, Xbox 360 software amounted to $401.2 million in the US in September, Xbox 360’s strongest September since its launch eight years ago. August’s ‘Games with Gold’ titles confirmed

The advent of Xbox One has been a blessing in disguise for Xbox Live members with 2 free games being dished out to gamers every month. Microsoft has confirmed the next round of free games that Xbox Live Gold subscribers can download in August. Firstly, from August 1 until August 15, paid subscribers can download the acclaimed Crackdown for free. This open-world action game from the now-defunct Realtime Worlds was described as ‘Grand Theft Auto with superheroes’ when it was released back in February 2007. Then, from August 16 to August 31, both Dead Rising 2 and its prequel Dead Rising 2: Case Zero will be available for free.
