While the idea of playing as a German or a Japanese soldier in a game set during the World War II may sound interesting to some, it’s not something you can do in the upcoming Call of Duty: WWII.
Sledgehammer Studios co-founder Michael Condrey confirmed on Twitter that the game will not feature any kind of Axis campaign. Replying to a question, he wrote, “You’ll fight and follow the Allied cause. The Axis power is a ferocious enemy. But no, you won’t play as Axis in campaign.”

The reasons for this are obvious (obviously). According to Sledgehammer, the upcoming title will take a deeper look at the Second World War, with focus on things like “things like racism, religious persecution, and sexism,” in addition to the terrifying and harrowing experiences of the war itself.
Call of Duty: World War II is set to launch on 3rd November for the Windows PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
