According to the series’ producer Eiji Aonuma, Nintendo Switch might be up for another Zelda game after Breath of the Wild.
Speaking to IGN, he said, “I haven’t been able to fully use all of the new features of the Switch … There could be the possibility of another Zelda on Nintendo Switch.”
Expanding on what the new game might entail, he goes on to say, “I think the core element of Zelda gameplay kind of stays the same. There’s the main character development as well as characters you meet along the way, and then you learn new things as the character develops. With that said I think we could keep all that, and then I do wonder how we can expand from here with that in mind.”
Previously, Aonuma had also mentioned that the focus of the next Zelda game might be multiplayer. The most recent title, The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes was also focused around multiplayer.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is set to release worldwide on 3rd March for the Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo Switch.
