Borderlands 3 – Review

Borderlands 3 is the 4th game in the Borderlands series, and is the proper sequel to Borderlands 2, coming seven years after that game. And in almost every way, Borderlands 3 improves upon the previous games, and once again sets itself at the peak of the looter shooter genre. Instead of Pandora, you now travel across three unique planets with their own biomes, weapons and quirky characters. The story is where Borderlands 3 kinda drops the ball, with a weak premise and antagonists, and some lackluster writing. However, the gameplay and the many quality of life improvements make for a much more enjoyable package overall. And, for the most part, the weak story never came in the way of my enjoyment in running around shooting enemies with friends, finding tons of new interesting guns to play with, and new character abilities to try out.

The shooting also feels at par with any great shooter in the genre, with tight controls, neat weapons animations, great weapon sounds, and a bunch of weird and powerful weapons. The menus and the map could have used more work since they still feel a bit clunky and navigating them can be a pain. And with the number of weapons thrown your way, the inventory might as well be non existent, since going back to the inventory and sorting it is barely even a necessity. Just pick up new guns, try them out, throw it away when the next gun comes along, rinse and repeat. Borderlands 3 is a really fun game, and is absolutely worth it for new and old fans alike.

Pros:
Looks great
Tons of loot
Gameplay is better than before
Good variety of locations

Cons:
Dull story
Performance issues
Clunky interface

Score – 9/10
