The upcoming movie based on the Assassin’s Creed franchise has gotten a new trailer, and it seems like a recipe for disaster.
The trailer shows off plenty of spectacular jumping and neck-stabbing action, where Michael Fassbender looks like a hardened criminal locked in jail. Not sure whether training him to kill in the ways of his 500 year old ancestors in the best idea in the world. However, it seems like Abstergo doesn’t have a problem with it (their funeral).
In stark contrast to the Assassin’s Creed games, a majority of the movie will take place in the present rather than the past. Meaning, we can expect more of Fassbender rebelling against Abstergo instead of some Spanish Inquisition era assassinations. Actor Michael Fassbender had previously explained the reason behind this, saying, “There are certain things that we absolutely want to respect in the game,” he said. “But we also want to bring new elements […] This isn’t a video game that we’re making. We’re trying to make a cinematic experience, so there are new things that we have to introduce.”
Well, all that may be true, and may work out for the movie, but in the light of the recent trailer, it’s hard to say how the video game fans are going to react to the changes in the core philosophy of the franchise.
As for other news, there isn’t going to be a new Assassin’s Creed game this year, but the Ezio Trilogy will be soon released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One systems.
