Assassin’s Creed Origins comes out today, and for once I’m excited about a new game in the franchise. The reason? Ubisoft is making a ton of changes to their original Assassin’s Creed formula, and it’ll be surely interesting to see how that turns out. To prepare yourself for the launch, here’s 5 new things you should know about the new game
1. Prepare Well Before You Assassinate
The biggest change, perhaps, is the addition of a new RPG level system. In earlier games you could assassinate a target in a single hit, but here it won’t be possible if the target is a higher level. If anything, once you fail and try again, you’ll only find your mission harder as the target would have taken additional measures. So you better make sure you prepare before you kill.
2. New Combat System
Origins will also make use of a new combat system, where you need to block and parry your enemies (sounds familiar, right?) instead of just relying on counters. Additionally, enemies won’t wait for their turn to attack and can come at you as a group, making the combat more dynamic.
3. Branching Skill Trees
You will have three different skill trees to invest in, namely warrior (for close combat), seer (stealth) and hunter (ranged combat). These skills can be built upon one other, providing you a lot more open play style that you can customize according to your choice.
4. LOOT (So much Loot)
Origins will have a new loot system, where fallen enemies can drop weapons and armor for permanent use. These drops are color-coded according to rarity, and have different weapon types which have their own specific attributes, making them successful in different situations.
5. No More Loading Screens or Mini-map
Assassin’s Creed titles are notorious for their long loading times, but no more, apparently. The open world of Origins will make sure that the loading screens disappear for good, along with the mini-map. Worry not, though, because you will still have quest markers to guide you on your journey.
