Microsoft Claims To Have The Best Exclusive Video Games, Says Gamers Choose Xbox Because Of It

Any Xbox One owner knows how bad the situation is for them when it comes to exclusives. Sony has some of the best games of 2017 exclusively on the Playstation 4, and the Switch already has more exclusives this year than the last two years combined for the Xbox One. Things are looking bad indeed for Microsoft, specially with the launch of the Xbox One X getting rapidly closer. Crackdown 3 has also been delayed till next year, and the console is truly starved for exclusives.

It an attempt to put a positive spin on the situation, Microsoft has had to make some rather wild claims at Gamescom this year, saying that “People pick Xbox because we have the biggest franchises, the biggest exclusives”. Here’s what Aaron Greenberg had to say:

“People pick Xbox because we have the biggest franchises, the biggest exclusives, whether you are a fan of Halo, or Gears of War, or Forza,” Greenberg said during Microsoft’s Gamescom panel yesterday. “This Holiday, personally, I’m really excited, [because] Xbox One will be the only console where you will be able to play Forza 7Cuphead, and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, which we are super excited about. Also timed with the Xbox One X launch we have Super Lucky’s Tale coming, that’s exclusive. But it doesn’t stop there, because into the Spring, we have Sea of Thieves, State of Decay 2, and Crackdown 3. So we’re basically non stop hitting our fans with more and more exclusive titles, so there will be tons of great games to play.”

The problem here is that, while Sea of Thieves looks promising, nothing that Xbox has to offer even comes near the likes of Uncharted, Bloodborne and Horizon Zero Dawn.

He continues saying, “The great thing as a gamer is no matter if you’re a fan of RPGs, or racers, or shooters, no matter what kind of game you like, these games are going to look and play better on Xbox One X”.

The problem with that statement is that when there are better games on the competing console, why would anyone be willing to switch to a $500 console. Many of the games that Microsoft had at their E3 2017 presentation were just launch exclusive and will eventually come to both the PC and the PS4. I really do want to see Xbox do well and bring out big new exclusives, but over the last few years, exclusives like ReCore, Gears of War 4 and Halo 5, have all been just average games.
