In a recent investor call, Take-Two Interactive spoke in depth about the company’s plans for upcoming and previously released video games. Speaking in particular about Rockstar making remastered version of older GTA games, Take Two said that the developer was open to the idea but not eager to do it.
Rockstar is willing to make remasters only when they can upgrade it significantly, and make the game look great. Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, said that, “Rockstar Games will decide in due course, and wouldn’t do anything that’s not going to look great creatively.” This was specifically pointed to questions about remasters of GTA Vice City and GTA III.
He further expanded by saying, “The starting point is, ‘Is this going to delight customers, is this going to look good?’. “You know that we’re a company that is not driven first and foremost by ‘Can we create revenue this way?’ We would start by saying, ‘Will this be exciting to consumers, will they be happy with it, will it reflect well on our brand, will it reflect well on our company?’ And if the answer is yes, then it may well be a compelling opportunity. But if the answer is indifferent or no then even if we have an opportunity to make a few bucks we probably would decline. I think that’s the lens through which we look, the actual decisions are made by the labels [Rockstar and 2K].”
Rockstar is currently working on Red Dead Redemption 2, and we’ll be hearing more about it soon.

All i hope is that they port GTA: San Adreas to the PS Vita. Of course a remastered GTA: San Andreas would be super cool too.
