Coming from Phoenix Labs, a new studio who boasts of veterans from Bioware and Riot Games, Dauntless is a free-to-play title releasing this year.
The game is inspired by the likes of Dark Souls and Monster Hunter and features online co-op multiplayer for up to four players. Set in a dystopian fantasy, the players can assume the roles of warriors known as Slayers who need to craft weapons and hunt down giant monsters to survive.
There will be an alpha test coming, for which you can register here. However, you need to supply a DxDiag.txt file and register for an official account, and it does not guarantee a spot for the alpha. The test is scheduled to go live sometime in late April, after which “regular testing will continue on a steady cadence into summer”.
“Dauntless will be in an early Alpha state and we want you to give feedback even though it’s unfinished. For example, we may turn 500 people loose to fight only Drask for a day to properly balance his encounter. We may unlock a new weapon or armour set to test how well they perform in the heat of battle. There will be bugs, glitches, and unfinished content; it’s all part of the process”.
