Call Of Duty Infinite Warfare does not seem to be able to catch a break. From anti-fans taking up pitch forks to dislike its trailers making it one of the most disliked videos on YouTube, to initial sales being significantly lower than before, there seems to be no end to the troubles the blockbuster shooter is coming upon of late.
And now, post launch, players have discovered that the already small and fragmented PC player base is being further fragmented between gamers who buy Infinite Warfare from Steam and those three dumbfucks who buy it from the Windows Store, as both of those segments of gamers will not be able to play with each other on PC. The matter has gotten so bad, and serious that Windows Store has gone so far as to refunding disgruntled gamers who bought Infinite Warfare.
Here’s what the Activision FAQ says: “Can I play Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered for Windows 10 on Windows Store with my friends that are playing on another PC platform?”
The Activision FAQ answers: “No, you can only play these titles with other users of Windows 10 on Windows Store.”
While this may not affect players who are not interested in Call Of Duty’s multiplayer, which is odd because that is what COD is known for, but also understandable since the multiplayer this time around seems to have done nothing really new to get players invested, this is specially bad for Activision, since it’s direct competitor in the same market space, EA, has put out two fantastic shooter catering to a broader audience.
Battlefield 1 offers a more realistic, strategic, and large scale gameplay, while Titanfall 2 caters to the more fast, frantic, run and gun style of gameplay. And both of them boast a rather robust campaign, specially Titanfall 2.
So if you are playing on a PC, avoiding Call Of Duty Infinite Warfare seems to be the way to go, and instead invest in either Battlefield 1 or Titanfall 2, or both. Even if you are tempted to buy Infinite Warfare simply for the Modern Warfare Remaster that comes with it as part of the Legacy Edition, we’d highly recommend waiting till a future date when that can be obtained independently.
