Nintendo Switch To Have 720p Capacitive Touchscreen and IR

Last week Nintendo revealed their upcoming console, the Nintendo Switch (previously known as the mysterious NX), and even though the trailer had a lot of razzle dazzle, there still a lot of detail that’s missing.

According to a report by Eurogamer, a number of their sources who previously told them about the device’s design and detachable controllers have confirmed some more details about the console. The Nintendo Switch will supposedly have a 6.2 inch, 720p capacitive multi-touch screen. This model is in stark contrast to the 3DS and Wii U, which have resistive touchscreen which less precise and single-touch. The Switch’s screen will feature a 10-point multi-touch display, enabling support for multi-finger gestures.

Addressing the matter of how the touchscreen will work when the device is docked, the report goes on to state that the right hand JoyCon controller houses a short range IR sensor in the base, which can be pointed at the TV screen to replicate basic touchscreen functionality using the corresponding IR sensor in the Switch dock.

Further information is not available, but Nintendo did say that they will reveal the price and full features sometime in January 2017. So stay tuned.
