Gears Of War: Ultimately Broken Edition Now Available On PC

Microsoft has lately been trying to gain some love on the PC Gaming front. First it brought Remote Play to the Xbox One which enables users to stream their Xbox One games to their Windows 10 systems, and then promised Gears Of War Ultimate Edition for the PC as well. It even announced Quantum Break to also come to the PC, which was quite the surprise, pleasant nonetheless. While Remote Play has definitely been a much needed addition, bringing Xbox One games to the PC seems much less so.

Quantum Break has some really steep system requirements, which is baffling considering how it’s an Xbox One game to begin with. And there’s no way that Microsoft will make the game significantly graphically superior on the PC. Its not to say that the game does not look pretty. Both Quantum Break and Gears Of War Ultimate Edition look amazing. But that’s primarily due to stellar optimization for the Xbox One. And, sadly, that is not the case for Gears Of War Ultimate Edition PC version, which is now available on the Windows Store.

In fact, the PC port is so bad, it makes Assassin’s Creed Unity cringe and frown in disapproval. You can watch the footage below, courtesy of WCCFtech:

The video shows consistent visual corruption. AMD users are the ones most affected by this, while even systems with 980Ti have had reports of glitches and bugs while running the game. Nvidia has also just launched Game Ready drivers with specific optimizations and fixes for Gears of War: Ultimate Edition which you can find over here.

This is really disappointing and frustrating, specially given how well Microsoft could’ve handled this with DX12. If this this is how Xbox One exclusive titles are going to be brought to the PC, then Microsoft should think again before venturing back into PC gaming. This also shows a rising neglect among developers in optimizing games for the PC.
