5 Best Racing Games On Android That You Can Play For Free

Today we bring you the cream of racing games on Android. These games have the highest production values and are the most fun to play.  They also look as good as some of the prettier console games did last generation. Oh and all these games are “free” (the way mobile games are. Caveat Emptor, anyone?), so download and play away, no money down!

Asphalt 8

Gameloft’s Asphalt 8: Airborne is almost a year old now, but still remains one of the most popular racing games on the platform, and for good reason: it takes inspiration from one of my personal favourite racing game series of all time (besides Trackmania, that is) Burnout. Which means mid-air flips, insanely awesome takedowns and car customisation.

And the recent update also added a zombies mode. In a racing game. Let that sink in for a bit.

You can download it here.

Real Racing 3

Real Racing 3, published by EA, is the most simulation-ey racing game you can find on mobiles. What I mean to say is that it’s no Assetto Corsa, but then again, you’re playing on a phone. So as soon as you jump in to the game, you see that the steering is controlled by tilting your phone and that you cannot control the acceleration directly, as is par for the course with mobile games.

But one thing I found neat is that car customisation has a measurable impact  on the car handling and acceleration. And the cars all have a different feel to them. Oh and do check the options menu to turn off some off the assists, as the game feels like it’s holding your hand otherwise.

CSR Racing

CSR Racing is a straight up drag racer, so forget about steering and hit those gear shifts with microsecond precision! It works like other drag racers do: a light tells you of the best time to shift, and you need to stay ahead of the competition. this is a fun twitchy game and there is multiplayer too, but you’d need to sink in some money to even stand a chance in that.

The good thing is single player is enough to sate your average gamer’s dragster appetites

Forever Drive

Forever drive is interesting: it features polygonal graphics and user generated maps as it’s main selling point. you play it from a top-down perspective, and it’s main racing mode is time trial. But it’s oddly addictive nonetheless. And I do mean oddly, as a “a few short games” session magically turns into a few hours of gameplay as you hop from map to map. It’s fun.

GT Racing 2

GT Racing 2, also known as OMGLOOKATDESEGRAFIX!!!one1!!!2, is a racing simulator for mobiles. It’s no Assetto Corsa, but it’s the best thing you’re getting on mobiles if you want a sim.
