Some leaked images from Kotaku suggest that this year’s Assassin’s Creed will be set in 18th century Paris. The Paris-set screenshots which were obtained from an anonymous source were of an ‘early-in-development’ version of the game. It features Notre Dame and the Seine river in the background. For now the game is dubbed Unity, though it is not clear if this is the actual title or just a codename. The word around is that this year’s Assassin’s Creed will take place during the French Revolution and feature a new protagonist named Arno. The leaked images also suggest a new feature – ‘parkour up’ and ‘parkour down’ which have buttons mapped for them. Source: Martin Gaston

Examiner sources said to be familiar with these upcoming projects, one is being developed for the next gen consoles, while the other is being developed for PS3 and Xbox 360. There is really no mention in the report of how PC and Wii U fit into these projects, which also claims that the franchise “is under a massive re-scope”. When approached yesterday about the claims made in the report, a spokesperson for Ubisoft told CVG the company doesn’t comment on rumours or speculation. Sometime in November, Ubisoft senior vice president of sales and marketing Tony Key said that the need to cater to the large Xbox 360 and PS3 installed bases had held back the Xbox One and PS4 version of Assassin’s Creed 4. Explaining why he believes many console launch games are underwhelming...
It’s been a while now that we’re hearing about whether or not there lies some sort of connection between two of Ubisoft front-liner games. There has been some speculation regarding whether Ubisoft’s upcoming hacker-centric Watch Dogs is set in the same universe as Assassin’s Creed. Watch Dogs is about a hacker who fights the powers of a corrupt city and the company that controls it. And if you think about it, Assassin’s Creed too has hackers fighting one front of a war against a corrupt and controlling corporation. In the video below, Assassin’s Creed 4 game director Ashraf Ismail quite clearly hints at a connection between the two games at this year’s E3 conference in an interview with Elder Greek. Ubisoft’s Rainbow 6: Patriots, in its previously announced incarnation, “wasn’t working,” president of Ubisoft North America Laurent Detoc told IGN. The project is in the process of being remade, he said, adding, “If it doesn’t work, we’re not going to bring it to you.” Since being announced in November 2011, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6: Patriots “got caught in the transition of going to next-gen,” Ubisoft senior vice president Tony Key said earlier this year. “Sometimes you have to take a step back and go ‘you know, I’m seeing the possibilities, but it’s gonna take more time,'” he said. Detoc said Patriots might ultimately arrive under another name entirely, and with very different mechanics. “...
What would you want or like to see in the next Assassin’s Creed game? That is precisely what Ubisoft is asking of its fans as part of a new survey leaked to IGN. Ubisoft asked fans what they would most enjoy from the options listed below: -Playing as a new Assassin, in a different historical time period -More famous historical characters to meet/befriend/fight -More assassination missions -More stealth gameplay sequences -The possibility to influence the look and feel of the city through progression in the game -Ability to extend the game experience on mobile or tablet -The possibility to seamlessly enter and explore more buildings and houses  ...
We last heard about Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation towards the end of 2012, but the word around is that Ubisoft revealed that an HD version of the game is in the making and would be coming to PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. And we now know, well at least for PS3, when it will happen. Momchil Valentinov Gindyanov, Ubisoft Sofia’s Producer revealed on the PlayStation Blog that Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD will be coming to the PlayStation Network as a digital download on the 14th of January 2014 in North America. And will go on to hit Europe on the 15th of January. However, no word yet on the 360 or PC. From what we hear, Liberation HD will notably improve on the Vita experience. “Our objective was simple,” Gindyanov mentioned, “[to] improve upon what worked on the Vita and adapt the gameplay and...
