After Massive Fan Outcry, GTA V Modding Returns, But With Some Caveats

After Take-Two decided to send a C&D letter to the developer of OpenIV and basically shutting down the single player modding scene, people were upset and angry about it were very vocal about it. This seems to have worked from the looks of it because OpenIV just got an update. Although it’s a small update, this confirms that OpenIV is back! That’s not all though because the credits section of OpenIV contains a “Special Thanks” to Rockstar Games along with the fact that Rockstar game’s retweeted a tweet from Motherboard which talks about them saving “an uber popular modding tool” for GTA V, which can mean that Rockstar has spoken to Take-Two about this. GTA V Is Getting Hammered By Steam User Reviews Since Take-Two Banned Modding

After Take-Two have essentially banned modding for Grand Theft Auto V, the whole gaming community, especially PC gamers have come together to make it known that they are not pleased with the decision. There are numerous threads on NeoGAF and Reddit with people complaining about this decision while defending OpenIV, the tool that was banned. The community has been leaving negative reviews on Steam which has seen the game’s overall rating go from Overwhelmingly Positive to Mixed and recent rating to Overwhelmingly Negative.
