Xbox One Gears of War is making Good progress
Xbox boss Phil Spencer says he had a “great day” meeting with the team at Black Tusk this week. Microsoft-owned developer Black Tusk Studios is making “massive progress” on the upcoming Gears of War game for Xbox One. That’s according to Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, who this week met with the team, including studio head Rod Fergusson, in Vancouver and had positive things to say about what he saw. Fergusson also seemed happy with the events of yesterday, he wrote after 1 AM today. Microsoft acquired the Gears of War franchise from creator Epic Games in January of this year. Microsoft Studios acquires rights to Gears of War franchise
Microsoft already has the rights to the Halo series, and now it’s adding another blockbuster to its stable of franchises: Gears of War. The company announced today that it has acquired the rights for the series from developer Epic Games. While no new Gears of War games were announced, development for the series will be handled by Microsoft Studios’ Vancouver-based subsidiary Black Tusk Studios. Cliff Bleszinski working on a new first-person shooter and it’s not Gears of War
Games development legend (and Unreal Tournament designer) Cliff Bleszinski has dropped a few hints that he might be looking to start development on a new fast-paced arena first-person shooter. The fascinating interview, which is well worth a listen, can be listened to on the Pointless podcast. After taking a break from the industry for the past year, Bleszinski confirmed that he has “a slide deck” for a new project. “I have a pitch. I have concept art. Halo & Gears of war writer moves to amazon
“But I wouldn’t be there unless something cool was brewing.” Writer of Gears of War and Halo: Reach, Eric Nylund has recently disclosed that he has taken up a new job as Director of Narrative Design at Amazon Game Studios. Nylund had earlier left Microsoft Games in July, and had not mentioned anything about a new job until a facebook posting revealed a business card with Amazon Game Studios printed on the front. “I can’t talk about specifics,” Nylund said. “But I wouldn’t be there unless something cool was brewing.” It’s hard to make out where exactly Amazon Game Studio is headed as they do not have games which rank alongside Halo and Gears of War franchise.
