Borderlands Developers Making ‘Top Secret’ FPS Game, Project 1v1

Gerabox, the studio that made the Borderlands games, are working on a new FPS game, and here’s what they gave to say: Project 1v1 is the code name for Gearbox’s top-secret, in-development, competitive first-person shooter that combines the action of fast-paced 1v1 first-person combat with the metagame strategy of a collectible card game. Project 1v1 will be holding a short Closed Technical Test this summer. We are looking for a limited number of players to test the online infrastructure and learn what players like you think about the game in order to inform and influence future development. The test will be held on North American servers, so international players may experience decreased performance. As a fan of the Borderlands game, I am curious to see what Project 1v1 is all ...

Borderlands and Duke Nukem Movies?!

Gearbox Software has revealed an update on the Borderlands movie as well as announcing plans to make a Duke Nukem movie. Now, most video game movies have been garbage. People seem to enjoy the Resident Evil movies but they’re honestly quite bad, the Mortal Kombat movie was also quite bad and don’t even get me started on the Super Mario Bros. movie which, let’s just say, doesn’t exist.  Borderlands was announced over a year ago, but news has been relatively quiet since the initial announcement and many have wondered if the movie was going to happen at all. Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford spoke to Geoff Keighley via YouTube Live at E3 where he provided an update on the Borderlands adaptation. Pitchford explains. “We’ve been developing scripts and the ...

Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford says that the game environment for  of the upcoming Borderlands game, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, is supposedly bigger than the original game but is smaller than Borderlands 2. He said in an interview with PC Gamer –  “We’re still getting a grasp on scope.” “It’s pretty big. I don’t think it’s going to be as big as Borderlands 2. It might be as big, or a little bigger, than Borderlands 1,” Pitchford said. “It might be kind of in between the two.” As far as the pricing is concerned for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, Pitchford said the final decision is up in the air and will ultimately be decided by publisher 2K Games. “As far as price point goes, I don’t think that’...

Destiny to be inspired from Borderlands and Far Cry

There’s a hunt about finding the “definitive shooter,” something that many game studios seem to be working on. Bungie hopes to take Borderlands’ brand of open world shooting one step further through connected play. Destiny will allow players to level up using Talent Points, and Bungie acknowledges that it has taken inspiration from fellow open world shooters Far Cry and Borderlands. “We are absolutely doing things that would be familiar if you’ve played any kind of open-world game,” Joe Staten, Creative lead “I mean… Far Cry, even. We would be idiots if we didn’t look at an awesome game like Borderlands and ask, ‘What are they doing well and how can we try to hit that same ball?’ I have never played a game where I have such a great attachment to my gun as I do in Borderlands. “When we look...
