Riot games is moving things up this year when it comes to more hostile elements purging League of Legends. The studio has come up with a new approach to competitive bans.
The whole idea of permaban had been done away with for two categories of bans: fixed and indefinite. The former is a ban which last for a period of two splits. which is a full competitive season. Once these fixed periods expire they will be reviewed individually.
On the other hand, indefinite bans require the player to “meet the highest standard of conduct over a sufficient period of time to be permitted back into the League.” These type of bans last for a minimum of one competitive season.
To some this may seem a bit too strict but Leagure Operations Manager Nick Allen says it’s more conducive to reform. “By adopting a new framework for disciplinary action, we’re aiming to give genuinely reformed players a second chance and make sure that players who violate the Summoner’s Code continue to feel the effects of their actions,” Allen wrote.
