Master Chief Collection problems prompts a Halo 3 ODST remaster as compensation

A remastered edition of Halo 3: ODST will be offered free of charge to Halo: The Master Chief Collection players as compensation for the Xbox One game’s troubled launch.

The ODST remaster will include the game’s campaign, upgraded to 1080p resolution and running at 60fps, but not its Firefight multiplayer mode.

“The satisfaction and joy of our fans is absolutely critical to everyone at 343 Industries and we regret the issues and the frustration you have endured. We are truly sorry and thank you for your continued patience and support of the Halo franchise.”

ODST will be offered free to anyone who has played The Master Chief Collection online between launch on November 11 and December 19, as will one month of Xbox Live Gold, an exclusive in-game nameplate and exclusive in-game avatar.

An FAQ confirming specifics on eligibility and further details on the offer is available on Halo Waypoint. Additionally, Microsoft has announced plans to bring a remastered version of Halo 2 map Relic to The Master Chief Collection via a free content update. As with the ODST remaster, a release window has yet to be confirmed.
