It might be a tricky ride for Batman Arkham Knight

There are many different opinions on the upcoming Batman game. Many are of the opinion that Arkham Knight is one of the best games at the show, and with good reason. From what we could tell not only from the pictures but from others who actually played the game, it is pretty awesome. But there are certain aspects that go potentially take a turn for the worst and kill the games hype.

Batman has been most people’s favorite hero. From early cartoon adaptations to Nolan’s take on the hero to the games it has recently been associated with….Batman has come a long way. But there still remain a few things that I would want to, not exactly nitpick, but would like to bring to people’s attention.

1.Storyline will be the Key

The first two Batman games had pretty decent story-lines which incorporated a lot of nice elements from Batman’s mythos. Probably a lot had to do with the fact that Paul Dini, who was the writer of Batman: The Animated Series, helped draft the story. Whereas with Arkham Knight, Rocksteady is doing the story in-house, which doesn’t really sound incredibly reassuring.

The team had got together and created the villain for the game called Arkham Knight. The characters design is pretty neat looking and looks like a military inspired version of Batman. Rocksteady did work with DC Comices CCO Geoff Johns to create the character, but we don’t know how much really Johns really had to do with the character. The game is shaping up to be a pretty badass one, especially with how the villain looks, but the dialogues seem to be a drag. Dialogues come across as pretty bland and straightforward….like a bunch of angry teenagers who are out to kill Batman. Rocksteady should not resort to writing the dialogues themselves, and we wouldn’t want them to take a chance on the last game of the franchise.

2.The Batmobile has too much riding on it

Don’t get me wrong, I honestly think that the Batmobile is a great addition to the Batman franchise and in many ways rounds off the series well. But it does look like Rocksteady is making too much fuss about the car. The Batmobile can switch between racing mode and battle mode in which it takes up the functions of a artillery tank. This maybe something that goes against what the Batman game has built up to be. Simply switching the Batmobile into battle mode leads to more tank-like battle mode that has Batman strafing drones and blasting them into debris. This sort of a gameplay feels like a generic shooter and looses the essence of what makes this game a class above the rest.

3.Overemphasizing Character Portrayal

Yes, I will explain what this means. The Batman games have always had a distinct design, style or flair to it. However, over the course of the series, it gets a bit too much. I mean it wouldn’t hurt to change things around a bit.

Gamers have mentioned how Harley Quinn and Catwoman have been portrayed as hyper-sexualized beings. Even how Batman, along with his villains all seem overly masculinized. Like the Joker isn’t supposed to be a physically able chap, his strength lies in his wittiness and trickery, which is why there’s isn’t the need to make him a bulky character. Even Batman and his weapons, are overly emphasized. I’m not saying make everyone skinny and malnourished, but wouldn’t it be a nice change to see a more grounded and realistic depiction of the character?

What do you’ll think? Please tell me what you’ll feel about the upcoming game in the comments below..
