Back in May Microsoft had announced Forge, the Windows 10 based map making tool for Halo 5: Guardians which made gamers rejoice in hope that the complete Halo 5 was coming to the PC. However, it was revealed that it was only the map editor, although it does enable online multiplayer against other PC players.
Maybe it was that confusion why Microsoft has renamed it as Halo 5: Forge, releasing on the PC on 8 September. “Halo 5: Forge brings the entire Forge level-creation experience from Halo 5: Guardians to Windows 10, with support for mouse and keyboard for highly refined object placement and manipulation, higher-resolution displays (including 4k) for stunning graphic fidelity, the ability to host and play custom matches for up to 16 players, and a new content browser that spans platforms,” the Xbox website says. “Creators will be able to download levels from the Forge community created on both Windows 10 PC and Xbox One, which they can then customize, or create their own from scratch. Halo 5: Forge opens the door to new possibilities in Halo 5: Guardians and beyond.”
We’re still disappointed by the lack of Halo titles on the PC, but it’s something. Especially considering the fact that the 16-player online combat across a plethora of environments comes completely free of cost. System requirements haven’t been revealed officially, so stay tuned for updates.
