The devs behind This War of Mine, 11bit studios have shared some information about what their next title, Frostpunk will be like.
Frostpunk will let you control the last city on Earth, as opposed to This War of Mine where you controlled a shelter of four or five people. Simply put, it is a city-building game where you can build and expand using the ice around you to power your machines by turning it into steam.
But there’s much more to the game that described in the mechanics. Frostpunk is about the extreme limits you can go to in order to ensure humanity’s survival on a frozen planet. Similar to This War of Mine, the game will test your moralities with impossible decisions, only this time they’ll have a bigger impact. In the words of Lead Designer Jakub Stokalski, “What are people capable of when they are pushed to the limits?”
“If you look at references for survival in extreme environments, things like Amazon expeditions and crashes of planes in deep mountains where people didn’t have anything to eat and they have to eat something… It gets pretty grim.”
“We don’t shy away from that.”
If the game doesn’t ‘shy away’ from what presumably seems like cannibalism, it won’t be a surprise if it forces the players to face their moralities in ways they couldn’t have imagined. Marketing Manager Karol Zajaczkowski believes that Frostpunk is a game that will “tear your heart apart.”

Once again, just like War of Mine, this looks dark and morbid. Gonna enjoy playing this. The decisions that you had to take in TWOM were truly tough, let’s hope to see more in this IP as well.
