Playground Games, the studio behind Forza Horizon 3 is opening a new branch to work on their next project, which is a non-racing game.
Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz in an interview, founder Ralphn Fulton said that the new branch will open in Leamington Spa in England, and will offer the company an opportunity to test their mettle in different genres.
Playground Games was established in 2010, and since then has worked on all the three Forza Horizon games, establishing quite a reputation when it comes to racing games. According to Fulton, the studio now wants to try their skills at something new. “We feel like we’ve become pretty good at racing games over the years,” he said. “We can always get better, we can always strive to get better but we’d love to prove ourselves in a different genre. That’s another goal of Project 2, to allow us to do that. We’re going to need to hire some very talented people with experience that we don’t have.”
Apart from the information that Project 2 will be an open-world game, no details regarding the title have been provided yet. The studio will keep working on the Forza Horizon series as well, so it’s likely that we’ll get to see another addition to the franchise next year.
