In recent years, it’s almost become ‘trendy’ to be hating on video games, and be armchair critics. There are definitely times when games deserve criticism, but a lot of it is often driven by a desire to be a part of the conversation, instead of actually having anything meaningful so say. In fact, there are times when people secretly love the games they are publicly hating on. We asked our readers some of the games that they secretly love, and here are some of the top picks.
Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare
Despite the outcry after the trailer was first revealed, Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare actually had a really interesting campaign, and was an overall robust package.
Assassin’s Creed: Unity
For those who didn’t pre-order the game, and were willing to wait for a few patches to drop, Assassin’s Creed: Unity turned out to be a pretty good entry in the franchise. The interesting story, gorgeous visuals, and fairly enjoyable combat (that even Origins learns from), all added up to an overall fun experience.
Mass Effect: Andromeda
If you are willing to look past the terrible facial animations, Mass Effect: Andromeda offers excellent combat, a great setting, tons of exploration, and even some interesting RPG elements.
Watch Dogs
Say what you will about Watch Dogs, the game had some pretty neat ideas that it executed pretty well. Also, some of the side missions in the game were really memorable.
Dragon Age: Inquisition
Dragon Age: Inquisition may not be the best Dragon Age experience when it came to the choice driven story telling the franchise had become known for. However, it still retained a ton of depth in its combat, offered some really satisfying exploration, and a lot of content that made it worth your time.
The Division
Despite the graphical downgrade, and the loot grind, for those willing to stick with The Division, it has been a really satisfying co-op looter shooter. The regular updates and added content has only made the game better over time.
